The, British Consul at Fez has protested against. the cruelties inflicted by Mulai Hafid, Sultan of Morocco, on followers of tho Pretender who have boen captured, and brought to Fez. < Tho "Standard's" correspondent- reports that Mulai Hafid ordered the right hand of each man and woman to be cut off, and tho stumps plunged into boiling pitch. Two. important prisoners wore ordered to lose their right hands and right feet/ and to have their teeth drawn. ■ - Another ■ correspondent declares that one captive was ordered to, have his lower jaw shattered with a blow from a hammer, another to have his eyes gouged, and a third to have the palm of his hand slashed, and then salted and sewn ,up in a leather glove. DIPLOMATIC PROTEST. : (Rec..August 26, 9.30 p.m.) Morocco, August 26. ■ The French Consul at Fez has addressed to' the Sultan Mulai Hafid strong ; remonstrances'against his atrocities to prisoners. : . The diplomatists at Tangier are considering the advisability of sending a collective protest. . ■ v . The French Minister for Foreign Affairs, M. Picbon, has instructed M. Router's Tangier correspondent reports that tho Pretender, Bu Hamaxa was captured in; a mosque in ■,the: country of the Beni M'sra tribesmen. He is now being conducted in chains to Fez. ' ,
