At tho aeioplano exhibition at Rheims, in tho course of tho trials, IVudhato, in a 'Voißin biplane, covered 34} miles in 56 minutes. , Blcriotj in a 50-horsc-power monoplane, macjo a world's speed record by covering 10 kilometres (about 6i statute miles) in 8 minutes 42 seconds. Curtiss, in i biplane, then beat Bleriot's performance by 7 seconds. [When M. Bleriot crossed the Channel, the "Daily Telegraph" estimated his speed at 40 miles, an hour.] The British delegates, headed by General French, aro expected to arrive at Rheims to-day. A BLERIOT-LATHAM MATCH London, August 23. . Messrs. Bleriot and Latham, aeroplaiusts, both of whom recently endeavoured, the former successfully, to cross the English Channel in monoplanes, aro arranging to hold an aviation match in London at the ond of September, for a stake of £5000.
