Walking Championship. TI, Kerr (Taranaki, Now Zealand) ... 1 J. J. .Harley (Now South Wales) 2 H. Winters (New SAuth Wales) , 3 , Thore were tlireo others, representing New South Wales'and Queensland. Kerr took tho lead hnlf-way throifgh fhe second Jap from Harley, and, walking grandly,'left tho others, and won by 76 yards. Time, 6min. 33 4-ssec. - Last year Kerr (New Zealand) won this event, beating Stubbcrfield (als6 of Now Zealand), by ten yards, in 7min. 23 3-ssoc. Tho tinio'on this occasion—just under 50sec. less—shows that the other competitors wero of more than average ability. That Kerr won comfortably is a further tribute to his prowess. It is interesting to uoto that the .Australasian record for the distanco is only 0 2-ssec. faster. Moore, who represented New Zealand, was among the first batch to leave the ring. Four miles out Weyman (New South Wales), was in charge, Laing (Queensland) being next, and Blake (Victoria) lying in third , position, tho others being bunched. WhW half tho'course had been completed, Simo (New South Wales) was loading,, Woyman and Wood (Now Sonth Wales) being next, and O'Brien (Queensland) , nearest •' them. Wood bo£an to draw up on tho homo journey, and passed Albion with ft good lead. Wood oventually won, finishing the course in 2hrs. 59min..lG 2-ssec.
