OVERLAPPISJC WITH AUSTRALIA. Lambs aro late in Australia. Advices from tho Commonwealth state- that the fat lamb'seaEon- there is about a month later than usual. No business for export 'has .yet transpired, and there is an impression that farmers will be difficult to deal , with at the level of prices which would be imposed upon 'buyers by the state of the London-market. The quality in Victoria : and South. Australia will bo very good, and in New South Wal6s ■ better than usual. The lateness of the Australian- season will, hayo , the.effect, it is. feared, of bringing the Commonwealth lambs into' competition with •tho early shipments from New Zealand, to -the consequent disadvantage of the Dominion. But on "the other hand good inay result from this. lateness if it enables the old stocks of New Zealand lamb now iu'Lon-' don to be cleared at improved prices. Lambing in New Zealand is proceeding satisfactorily. There has been a slight check experienced iqi the Manawatu from the recent wet. wintry weather, but in tho Wairarapa the lambing is perhaps a little more advanced than was the casb last-year. A satisfactory increase is expected. , v With her earlier season it would have seemed reasonable to conclude that Australia must have disposed of hor frozen mutton aiid lamb last season-at the better prices which ruled earlier in tho year.
