FLYING HIGH.

The Women's * Aerial League is flying high in more than one sense, 'and ita wings are strengthening in a very rapid manner (says a writer in'an English paper). Its recent appeal to the women -of England to unite in subscribing for an airship is merely ono facet in a wide programme, iTo buy a foreign airship and present it to the nation is not the end of their endeavour, which is rather to bay an "airship to serve as a model, to be tested, improved upon, and altered, by English engineers, who nJay thue found a whole fleet of home-built aeroplanes. Thero -is no text-book in English on such matters; 'it is owing to the 'Women , Aerial League that we shall 'shortly have even a translation of a French one. A scheme" of scholarships and bursaries is under consideration, and a whole campaign of public meetings, the first of .which' will be held at the Society of Artß/ in Essex Street - at 3 o'clock on July 12. The league, which is affiliated to the Aerial League, is strictly non-political and non-sec-tarian; its subscriptions aro very low, and its work is extraordinarily interesting in itself, apart from its connection with our national welfare. If the women of England aro the first to present an English textbook (even a translation) on aero-onsineenng, and Ro 'on to bring about the foundation of n fleet of all-British aeroplanes, they will have an incalculable entry on the credit side.
