The town of Lurgan, County Armagh, has been the scene of a fierce sectarian and party fight. Nationalists attacked a Protestant band which was returning from farewelling emigrants. The rival mobs, when not stoning each other and smashing windows, jointly assailed the police. The Riot. Act was read, and numerous charges were made by tho police, who. used thoir batons. • Twenty-two constables were injured, some sustaining broken jaws or ankles. • Thirty civilians were wounded.
