COURT DRESS.
Many changes have been mado in court customs; but tho old rules of dress still prevail. Veils, plumes, and trains aro compulsory. Veils and plumes ..must be whito, but black'.; M-β allowed for mourning; and, in this case, black gloves, .instead of white, are permissible. Anything like a high gown or long eloeves aro forbidden unless a special permit is-secured beforehand. Those who by right of birth are entitled to attend.at court are members of the peorago and of the leading county families, tho wivos and daughters of members of Parliament, of officers in tho armv. and navy, of barristers, of important financiers, and'of men engaged in large commercial enterprises. But the line" is rigidly drawn at those occupied in retail trade, no matter how rich they are or how refined in parentage. This ; rule is absolute, and has no exceptions. ..'.-'
