Tho charming pluy "Sweet Kitty Bellairs" was repeated at tho Opera House list evening to tho delight of another large audience, In tho part of "Sweet Kitty" Miss Nellie Stewart lias renewed her warm hold on the hearts of Wellington playgoers, and her acting, in rewarded with ropentod applause. Tho other members of the company acquitted themselves • well, and the romance and colour of Bath in the bright Georgian days' wtire well displayed. "Sweet Kitty Bellairs"- will bo staged again'this evening. TIIEATRE -ROYAL. . Lovers of Thos. Hood's poems will find something of particular interest to them in this week's programme of pictures at the Theatre Royal, in the form of a film descriptive ot "The Bridge of Sighs." The rest of the programmo contains items which must appeal to one and all. Included in the great variety of films are "International Balloon Contest," tho cinophono items, "A Little Boy Called Taps," and "The Taxicab," togelhor with niany others of a like popular nature. '' , "'..' .THE ROYAL PICTURES. ;His Majesty's Theatre again well filled last evening, when the present programme was shown for the last time. To-night an entirely new programme- will be presented. Included in tho new series will bo "A,Tragic Night," "A Faithless Lover," "Blessington's Bonny Babies," "An Extraordinary Journey,". "Tho Widow," "Across Ceylon," and "A Life Annuity." ■ ■ . . . ■.: ~•■';■; BENGOUGH. : With- one bold dash of his,crayon, Bengoiigh, the noted cartoonist and all-round entertainer, helps'his audience to grasp every point of the /humorous yarns he relates, as he works in coloured nhalk on a. big pad of whito paper. Not only does he draw, hut ho recites funny littlo poems of hi« own composition, sings and keeps his audience in a , bubble of continual .laughter. Speaking of him, tho "New York World" says: "This Maxim-gun cartoonist would quickly draw the letters-T.E.D., and deftly convert them into the familiar head of President. Roosevelt, smile and all. Next he would add a few awkward looking angles, and presto! in another, moment you had u boy and girl eating.apples. And as for humorous caricatures, he drew. them and drew them, almost in the blink of an eye.". .Bengough will appear■at • the Wellington Town Hall on Aug. ust 27, 28, and 30. COMBINED BENEFIT CONCERT. The-concert to be held in tho:Town Hall oi Tuesday, August 24, promises -to be of an interesting character." It;has been the New Zealand Shopkeeper's' Association and the Wellington Garrison Band in aid of the relief of those who are unemploved, and the
programme includes items by tho Garrison ■Band, under Lieutenant Eferd, songs hy Messrs. Jas. Connell,-Kain, F. Morrison and phas,. E«ad, Mesdanies Kandell and Tansley, and instrumental trios and niusical sketches bythe "Follies." Tho excellent programme arranged and the deserving object'that it is in aid of should ensure a good house.
