All mtside work is going on as usual) only tunnel Workers being affected. Auckland, August 1.7. Mr. Murdoch M'Lcan states that tho, workmen wero so careless tliat tlic firm was losing on an averago from ton to. fifteen lamps a week. To, protect themselves, tho firm insisted on tho men'depositing tho cost of the lamps. Mr. M'Lcan thinks the trouble at Otira will bo speedily sottlod.' , ohri3tohuroh, August 17. The Otira correspondent of tho "Press" has telegraphed that the report that the- men at tho Bealey end of the tunnel had peased work is incorrect. The men are working at present, and all tlio men arc working outside tho: tunnel. At the Otira ond they aro all working as usual, only the men who aro working in the tunnel and require light arc affected. Shifts, night, day, nnd afternoon, continuo to go up to work as usual, but no lights being forthcoming, tho mon have to return''to their huts.
