THE MISSING WOMAN.

THE SEARCH. Tho party consisting of. five Maoris and Mr. H. Trevethick, who is acting as leader, has returned to Hutt from the search for the missing woman, Mrs. Margaret Penney. On Tuesday morning they commenced their search at the. last place to which- Mrs.. Penney had been tracked, and they .were successful in following the track for another four miles, where they' went into camp for the night, resuming the search 'again yesterday morning. In the.upper part of Gollan's Valley- the track was lost, and the party was - unsuccessful in picking it 'up again, as it began to rain heavily, which compelled them to return.' The place to which the woman, has so far been traced is eleven miles from the top of Wainui Hill. The last' four miles'- of the journey was so thick with undergrowth that the'dogs had to' be stopped, and a .way had to be cut through. ; If Mrs. Penney is.not found before Sunday, it is intended to organise a party of 500 searchers, but nothing can be done in that, way at present; as it would take seven hours at the least to reach tie. last place to which she was traced. The nearest' and most easy way is from Gollan's Valley; and it is intended to get a party to camp out in the vicinity.'.
