EXCISE INSPECTOR'S EVIDENCE. In its intorim report, the Hoyal Commission on ' whisky had recommended: "That no r<>striotions should be placed upon the processes of, or apparatus usod in, the distillation of any spirit to which the term, "whisky may be 'applied as a trade description. , , • In his evidence before the commission last year, the Chief Inspector of Exoiso, Mr. A J, Tedder, said there were t%ro classes of blends, blends of pot-stilled spirits mado in difloront distillorlos and blends of post-etlllcd with patent-stilled spirits. Zd. per gallon 11 over. proof, and in Ireland 3s. Id. to ss. per gallon 25 oral; proof. At tho end of last year there wero in the bonded warehouses of the United' Kifigdom 161,648,409 proof gallons of British whisky.- Th*i tonsumptioa had been decreasing slightly.
