NON-COMPLETION OF RAILWAYS.
Sir,—The Minister, for Public Works is no. doubt right in .'his answer to the recent deputation regarding: the Otago Central.- I should like, him to state what lie intends doinb with another- line in- his own electorate whicli is quite,:if.not more so, as monstrous a waste of money as the other.'i The land in Otago Central is magnificent as compared with; that in t)he Minister's.electorate. Will you kindly inform me if the Minister for Public Works, is the Sir. Roderick M'Kenzie, the member for Motueka, as I was present on one occasion in Collingwood, wlien ho addressed a meeting of electors just prior to.'an'election, when lie stated, lie would support tho construction of a line of' railway from Collingwood to Nelson. A more outrageous statement could' not ever bo made. I ask tho hon. gentleman if lie will say whether lie is still in favour, of such' a .line. I-wonder will lie reply! , Early when Parliament meets a. little'iaformation will be given about another gross waste 'of money on a line now under construction, which, I think, will open the oyes of: the taxpayer—l am, etc., ' IMPARTIAL. August 9.
