Jackson did for England in Test cricket during the 1005 tour; he has won the toss on all flvo occasions. The Australians did not make a brilliant opening, and it was not until Trumpor- joined Bardsley that tho Australian barometer rose to tho standard of Test cricket from a colonial point of view. The score obtained by Bardsley is 10 less than what R. A. Duff notched for Australia at Tho Oval in 1905 The two Syuney players, by their splendid 011-ronnd play, made tho English attack appear simple, j n ABita pi tlis numerous changes, at ilacLar&n'B

Macartney did not wasto any tiroo\ ) on the attack, which hod lost its sting for tliomoment This trio are crodibcd 'with no fower' than 259 runsj the remaining eight gathered . , ! 61 of the total Australia'scored oft tho bat. ■; Of the, English bowlers, D. Vt'. Carr has j made a moderate debut into Test. crickot. J. . i Sharp, tho Lancashire player, in tho present ! innings obtained his first, wicket in Test j cricket. E. H. Spoonor is ono of the best | cover-points in England, and is a worthy suc< j cessor to tho lato J. Briggs.
