THE ANNUAL EXAMINATIONS. ' LIST OF PRIZE-WINNERS. Results of the scholars? Sci'ipturo examinations, held oft July 2, under tho auspices of tho Wellington Sunday, School Union, have' just been received by the secretary. There wer« 781. candidates, which is the largest number who have yet competed.' Macs aud first-class certificate : are to bp. awarded to those who have gained 76 .marks or: over, second-class eortificitcs to thps6 gaining 06 and under 75 marks, and, third-blass certificates to thoso gaininK 40 marks; and under 60. The number of prizewinners is 210, as against 131 last year,, tho number vhognin second and third-class certificates boiug 192 and 208 respectively. Only 146 (or 10 per cent, of' the scholars) failed to gain certificates,; as against 229 last -year, but the iiJnber of'.marks necessary to gain a' thirdclass certificate lias been lowered from 45 (o 40.
