Society, to bo held at Ca-Ttcrton on Wednesday ■■: and'i Thursday, October 27, and 28, promisee tobeloveh moro successful ■ than tlioso preceding 'A, and tho eoiumittoo have been working assiduously for months .past' with, a view to .ensuring tho show will bo' hotter than all pioviouslv hold by the society. ;Mueli caro'lias boon taken in revising the schedule, and all classes of stock have boon well catorod for; In the Southdown section -tho New'Zoaland' Shcepbrecdc'rs' Associatiofi's c-halloiige. shield, will.; bo awarded to the champion ram,\ and the Douglas cup]. goes to tlio exhibitor securing tho most points in this section.; TheQuiboll cup for most points'in any one, of tlio principal classes of stud sheep is also open for competition in the Southdown classes, whilo gold and silver medals are awarded by tho society for champion ram and ewo respectively, in addition to liberal prizes in cash. The prizes in tho buttor-fat competition are- also liberal, as, in addition (to the challenge cup -'presented by the local dairy companies and prizo money amounting to £15, Messrs. D: Bufihanan, of Palmerston Norlh, and. E; Eagle, jun., of Belvedere, iha'vo promised a yearling .bull' each from their., wellknown herds. These are to bo given . for cows (by a purebred Ayrshire or Jersey bull respectively) securing tho highest points in ■tlio competition.-: : '.;> .■-.-. < v . ...
