IMPORTS AND EXPORTS, A TEAR'S FIGTOtES: This week's "Trade Review" .contains summary of the value of the Dominion's o ports and imports for tho year ended Jui SO last, compared with other'years coverir ■ corresponding periods. - The "Review" say: The declared values of the exports of tl Dominion in tho June quarter just pas« compare as'follow with those of the oorre ponding period in previous years:— June Quarter. £ 1909 5,270,470 1908 3,723,964 1907 ■ ... ... ... ... '4,841,983 1906 4,877,322 These figures show, as compared wit] 1908, an increase of one-and-a-half million: and are some £400,000 in excess of,, tb earlier periods quoted. The excess over tl June quarter of 1908 is actually more tha (the figures indicate, as at that time oi escorts of wool were over-valued. ' " The vahzo of imports shows a falling-o£ and is less than the value of exports by nc less than £2,404,000. This is a much greate ' excess of exports over imports than we ai accustomed to see in the June quarter. The decrease, however it'must be rempmbered, did not begin; til the December quarter of 1908, and in the nin< months since September 30, .1908, there been a reduction of. practically. £2,000,000 but an increase of about'£27o,ooo in- th< September quarter, included in the abov< twelvemonth, -'brings the net decrease dowi as shown above. A; year, ending with Sopfcem ber 30 next will show the measure of shruikag* more correctly and clearly.'
