At the Police Court, Georgo Nottingham and Frederick William Dennett,, arrested , on Julv 28 in a.private house m Durham qtrmt ' nlcaded guilty to a chargo of being Sophia ß Clark's houoe withi intent to commit a crime, and were committed for The same accused were charged' with havinr, on July 27, assaulted Julia Harvey, with intent to rob. Tho evidence was to tho effect that, at 10.30 o'clopk. on the night mentioned, two men followed Julia Harvey, and on©'put'his hand over her mouth, whilst tho other, whon she screamed, hit her on tho eye and 'check. Ono man then searched her belt-and pocket, whilst the other held ' her, Miss Harvey could not positively swear that accused were the men who assaulted her; but another witness who saw the two men standing'lioar where the alleged assault was committed, and heard the cries for help, had identified .Nottingham at the police station; among' other men. Doth accused pleaded not guilty, and wore committed for trial.
