Mr. ( .J. Keating, a.cabinon,states that,in the direction of PoM a . brilliant., orange-coloured light was plainly discernible',-.and was hovering about for -fully twenty minutes before .if was lost' to sight behind the hills. It did not remain stationary,, but rose and fell an frequent intervals. ' The news of the strange light being visible had boon noised abroad, and'many groups were, ranged along the foreshore witnessing, the ■ manoeuvres •of the illuminated ".'object 'in • the . heavens, •glasses and telescopes, betog brought to bear •• on' it.-, jNo definite opinion was expressed as to there being a.body behind.tho light, ■which was brilliantly dazzling, though some thought that thoy :could discern a vague outlino, possibly due to imagination. Iho last appearance was shortly bofore ;10. p.m., when the visitor bad loft-the hills and was ob : scrvable at a great height above the Star of Australia, laying at anchor in the roadBtead. On this occasion the same steady was lacking, as tho light appearedto revolve in much the same method as the revolving lamps 'in lighthouses, though not .with the same regularity.
