' The annual meeting of the Petone Rowing Club will be held to-night.- The.report states that' the year commenced with a credit balance of £6 -is. 3d;, with outstanding liabilities': £168 9s.,'.'and assets £473'125.'5d., leaving or £ol)5 is. sd. The balance-sheet gives accredit balance of £4 18s. 3d., with liabilities amounting to £135 16s. 4d., and assets valued at £491 6s. 3d. leaving a surplus of £355 10s. Id. Tlie plant now consists of two clinker practiceoutrigged fours, one clinker outrigged racing four,' three practice bar. and vertible double scullers, one racing doublo sculler, two practice clinker single sDuilers, and one pleasure-boat. ■Owing to increased membership, the committee' have ordered two practice fours: and 'one'maiden racing four, which • are ■ now.: under' by Mr. Norton,, of Wellington.;' The boats are to be delivered early in-Septeniber.. ' ,Iri order to com with' the expense of the new; plant, the committee' are'issuing'l2o debentures at £1 each. The committee desire'to thank the Petone Navals for the use of their boat shed, also Captain Moore for the efficient coaching of the crews. THE HIITT BOROUGH TANGLE. ,At a meeting of the members of the previous Hutt Borough' Council, it was decided to advise' the present council that they completely exonerated Mr. Rix-Trott, the borough' engineer; • from any blame m connection with -tho expenditure of the £02,000 The Hutt Council will meet again on Monday night to hear evidence in connection with tho matter.
