■The question of the rebuilding of Southwark Bridge has been engaging the attention of tho Bridge Hmiso Estates Committee- of tho London City Corporation for sonic time. The scheme they aro likely to recommend in tho report they are preparing will probably bo ono for a bridge- SOft. wide, at a cost of abput £1,000,000. 'The width of tho presout bridge, which cost £800,000, when it was built 90 yoars ago, is 42ft. Gin., so that tho, proposed now bridge will be almost as wido again as the existing ono. Advantage'' may be taken of the scheme to provido a doublo lino for electric trains over tho and thus afford another link botiveen tlio tramway systems of North and South London. The estimate of £1,000,000 , for rebuilding tho bridge includes the cost of buying up tho property on tho north side of the present uridro., in order to improve tho approach.
