Ihe hrst consignment of 200 tierces will bejent direct to Bristol, - probably at the end month. Another--300 will follow in a month's time. •The Poultry Show closed on Saturday after a successful run, tho takings exceeding those of the previous year. An auction ' sale was held on Saturday night of prize stock, and, though prices; in some cases we're low, the general tone of sale rates ap- < peared to please sellers. , , A,requisition was presented to Mr. G. P. Donnelly to-day asking him .to agree to Domination as president of the ( Hawke's Bay ' Jockey' Club for the ensuing year. Mr. DonnoUy stated that there was a probability of his being away for a part ot the present year, and, under the circumstances, he must decline. The annual meeting of the club takes place on August 6. ' Collins, of , Tomoana, who was to box four rounds with Porter, of Wellington, st the I forthcoming local meeting, has decided to , retire from the contest, owing to the death r of .the young man Long, killed by an acety- ' leno gas explosion at Tomoana Hall (Oollins'e training quarters). 'The committee has agreed to the event being ■ cancelled. '
