The figures Bhow that the total exportable production of Australasia amounted to 2,288,104 bales, which if taken at the average of £11 6s lOd. .per bale shows the value to bo [£25,950,912; but to tho above must be added 40,273 bales, which have been manufactured into cloth, etc, in the Commonwealth and Dominion, worth £456,763 Thus tho total wealth obtained from wool during tho year has been £26,407,675 Tho previous year's exportable surplus of 2-,067,831 bales was valued at £26,768,952, adding wool used by manufacturers,, tho value of tho total clip was £27,811,687. The average valuo per bale of all-the wool sold in Australasia during the past twelve months was £11 6s 10d, as compared with £13 0s 2d. for the previous season, a decrease of £1 13s 4d, or 12 8 per cent Of the last clip 76 per cent was of mcrmj growth, and 24 per cent, crossbred, as compared with 78 per cent, and 22 per cent respectively for the previons season The average weight of wool produced per head works out at 61b 1407, which compared, with 61b 9oz in 1907 8 Tho averago monetary return has been 4s. 9d. per head of sheep and lambs, as against 5a Id for the previous season, the lesser monetary return being attributable to Jower values J ruhng for w 00l The tendency on tho part of owners to still further reduce the weight of their wool bales has continued, with tho 'result that tha average weight per bale of the past elip, as dealt with in Australasian markets, amounted to 330 61b , as against 333 71b during tho previous season, and 339 71b in 1906-7.
