In "outlining;'the "use-' fulness of the union, ho said 'it had been instrumental in' a distinct saving in, the: rates of firo insurance, and-had been x w'6rk 7 ing toward securing better .educationj reduction in the cost of manures;: the abolition of the sheep taxi freehold tenure as applied to Crown lands, the improvement,of .dairy, herds, the opening up of .Native iands for settlement, 'and.tuo rating of' : them, tho free ■'■'carriage', of agricultural limo on/ tho .railways, the carrying out by the, Government of manuring experiments, compensation for condemned stock, the. of co-operative freezing works, dairy factories, and sheep-dipping yards, tho furtherance of agricultural education, ete. Many of _ the aims of the union had-.only.- been partiallyrealised, and there was consequently a wide field for its activity; - The following motion was. carried unani-, mously :—"That a branch of the union be formed,, and that Messrs.
