PERSONAL NOTES FROM LONDON

London, Juno 3. Miss Wilmer, of Christchurch, who arrived in April, is staying at Norbury, near Stockport, with her brother, the \ icar of Norbury. Miss A. W. Thorns, of Oamaru, who arrived hore at the beginning of May, will visit Scotland, Ireland, and the Continent before loaving for New Zealand in August. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Fenwick, of-Auck-land, .who aro now in London, purpose remaining until July, and hope to return to New/Zealand via America and Tahiti.

Mr. W. J. Quecnie, representing Messrs. Miln and Choyce, importers, Auckland, has been busy in the City with. his. firm's purchases since his arrival in London on a visit to. the''Homo markets.

Mr. and Mts. Gifford Marshall, of Wanganui, with their two daughters, who arrived in April by tho lonic, will remain until, the end of the year. Mr. and Miss Marshall wont to Oxford for Eights Week. ■ Miss Florence M. L. Jones, of Wellington,, who came to England last summer, has been-seeing tho country and also devoting some time to musical studies. She expects to return to' Wellington early in the spring. Mr. A. W. Duncan, who arrived by the Asturias, has been' in London in company with, his sister. Ho will tour in the provinces for a couplo of months, and then go to'Newi York on'.business, intending to return (thence' to London before sailing for Australia.

Mr. A. M. Lewis, of Wellington, who arrived with his wife and daughter by tho Asturias, expects to remain till the end of Octobor, and to tour in the four kingdoms, visit Norway, and make a Continental round. Mr. Lewis intends to return via America. Mr. G. K. Drury, of Wellington, is spending a few weeks with relatives at Whetstone. He travelled overland from Naples; His programmo includes trips to Scotland, Ireland, and Norway, and ho expects to return to New Zealand about tho end of tho year, via Suez. Miss Edith M. Clark, late Sister of tho Christchurch Hospital, arrived by tho Whakatane, via Monte Video, Teneriffo, and Gibraltar. She will pay visits to relatives, and then return to London to gain further knowledge of nursing, and she will also visit Edinburgh for tho same purpose. Mr. Frank M'Cullough, of the "Thames Star," arrived in London by the Medic, and will visit Scotland and the Continent, probably joining an outward-bound steamer at Naples at 1 tho beginning of October. Mr. M'Cullough. is accompanied by Mr. Vincent A. Holbeche, of Auckland. The, Rev. I'\ Stubbs has concluded his lecture tour in and started for New Zealand, via Holland, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, and Egypt, in all of which countries he will" be engaged in literary work. He hopes to bo back in Rotoiua by tho % end of tho year. Mr. C. Gordon Armour, late general secretary of tho Dunedin Y.M.C.A., arrived by the Asturias, and left London last week for Scotland and lieland to visit his relations. Ho intends to sail from Glasgow for New York about the middlo of June, Mr. Armour is on his way to Montreal to take up a secretarial position in the Y.M.C.A. in that city. Mr. D. Gouk, jun., of Auckland, and Mr. W. H. Faulkner, of Dunedin, arrived by tho Asturias. Mr. Gouk will visit Ireland /and Scotland, Franco and Germany. 'Mr. Faulkner has como to England-chiefly on business. Mr. and 'Mrs. Richaid A. Carr, Miss Carr, and Messrs. Austin and Jack Carr, of Auckland, arrived here in tho Malwa. Miss and Mr. Austiu Carr are at present at Oxfurd for Eights. Week. Mr. and Mrs. Caif and Miss Carr,will shortly be leaving for Germany, .and will bo absent from London during tho nionth of June. Mr. William Fraser, of Alexandra South, is on'a visit .to his sister at Dornoch, in Scotland. Mr. Fraser intends touring tho North of Scotland during the next , two months, and after a short stay in London will proceed , home via Suez—the route by which ho came. He is visiting his nativo county after an absence of forty years. Mr. E. J. Chr.sp. of Gisbome, who'arnved by tho-Ruriic in April, leaves this week for Switzerland, Austria,, and tho / Rhino, and on July 3 he Mills on a cruiso .to Norway; in tho Ophir. On his return ho will spend a week in Newcastle,' visit Scotland and Ireland, and' leavo for Now Zealand via Sydney by the Suevio on July 29. • Among thoso presented to the King at the Empire Day levee held at St. James's Palacb wero the Hon. Wm. Hall-Jones,; who was presented on his appointment as High Commissioner for New Zealand by tho Secretary of State, Mr. Patrick Campbell, Dr. Chailes Monce, and Mr. P. A. Vaile, tho High Commissioner presenting his countryMr. and Mrs. Claude Sawtcll, of Christchurch, who arrived by the lonic last month,, have since been touring in the West of England, and are now in London for six weeks. They will then visit Wales and Scotland,' returning to London for a final visit before going on the/ Continent,' whero they join an outward boat at Naples about the beginning' of December. Mr. W. T. Limbrick, son., of Napier, who, is a nativo of Gloucestershire, but nas been a resident in the Hawko's Bay .district for somo -fivc-and-thirty years, is making his fourth visit to England. Since arriving by tho'-Malwa on' May 10, he has been visiting | his" old homo in tho West Country, and is now in London. Ho will visit Scotland, Ireland, and Paris, and arrive home about Christmas. ' , Mr.-and Mrs. Arthur Hope, of Timaru, with their son and two daughters, have arrived in London. They left the Oroya at, Naples on March 36, and mado a tour in Italyj spending three weeks in Rome on account of tho illness of the three childreu, and five weeks, altogether on tho Continent Tho children are to go to school in this country, and Mr. and' Mrs. Hope will pay a round of visits during June, and go to the Isle of Wight for July, August, and September. They hope'to spend a' year in England. Tho Rev. G. Clement, of the Franklin Road Primitive Methodist Church,' Auckland, who, arrived by the Athenic, is revisiting England aftc* an absence of 22 years. This month ho goes to Southport to represent - the New Zealand Primitive Church at the British Conference. - Mr. Clement will visit Scotland, Ireland, and tho Islo of Wight, and has accepted a number of engagements to preach and also to lecture on New Zealand: during his visit. Ho is due back in New Zealand at Christmas. Mr. J. W. Ivess, of Christchurch, is on a visit to London. ' He arrived at Naples by the Asturias a few weeks hack, and went overland to Paris, where he stayed a fortnight, and then came on here. Mr. Ivess purposes remaining a month in London, after which he will motor to friends in Yorkshire and Scotland. At tho end of July it is his intention to visit some of the big cities in tho "United States, returning to England in October, and leaving on his return journey to New Zealand in November.
