The report' continues:-: While your board is hoping that a decided change . for the better, will " soon take place, it regreti that there - are no indications of an . appreciable improvement in tho amount of ; work offering for the next three months, when Parliament will reassemble, and tho Government Printing Office ought to absorb most .of the local unemployed craftsmen.: The adjournment of : the session Until October .next 1 will cause a further period of enforced idleness on many: tvho were looking forward to- the sessional work starting at , the usual time; The amount of unemployed allowance paid. 8s;) , does not 'fully represent tho number: of members who. are unemployed, as several "'did not ; take adTantage-of the ...and some ' were not entitled to it .under the rules.. Th? amount expended for the)half-year, is the largest since 1899,'. when tho sum of wasipaid for' the same period as the one under review',: :and''the membership- war-only 163, and the: maximum Allowance o£ 10s; per week, as coinpawd -yvifch 373 members: now and a: maximum allowance of £5 at' 18s. per week.
