HASTINGS NOTES.
(By TeleEraDh.— Special OorreßDondent.i Hastings, July 3. •The adjourned meeting' of the council was' held last night. The water supply; scheme was further discussed, and- it was decided to recommend No. 1 scheme. It was . .also decided to take a poll for a loan of £85,000— £40,000 for water and . electric , light, £30,000 : for . sower extension, and £15,000 for footpaths and roads. A special meeting'is to' bo held noxt Tuesday, to'consider the rating boundary in connection with the loan. It was decided to erect a grandstand at Cornwall l'ark,. to cost £160. ' The Hastings District High School held its annual plain and fancy dress ball last night; -when there was a -very large attendance. Two prizes : were given for the best fancy-dress for boys,- and two- for girls. Masters Sidney Britton, and .Willie .'Men-, ieitli were the winners in the boys' class, and. Misses Vivian Banks, and Doris BrookeTaylor secured tlio' honours, fcho girls' clasß. ' '!'•
