PONGAROA RIFLE CLUB.
The members of tho Pongaroa Jlille Club competed last week at 500, 600, .and 800 yards, .for,the, club cup: The weather was unfavour-cold-southerly, wind blowing with fre?uent heavy showers. F. Herbert was successol in , isieenring; a second leg-in in defeating F. Brenton (who looked like getting! a first legin) by. two points. Several members retired at the -last"distance; owing to the failing•,light, in order that those most interested'should havo an opportunity of completing their firing before ino light became too bad.
