Boisterous weather conditions wcro experienced in Auckland yesterday, a fresh north-east gale prevailing throughout tho day and evening. A big sea was running iri.'tfco harbour, and alao all along the coastl Shipping in consequence was somewhat interfered with. The Norl&eni Company's steamer Clansman, whioh left Whangaroa for Auckland yesterday, was compelled to return owing to tho strong gale prevailing on the coast. She is expected to arrive here' to-morrow morning. The same company's steamer Chelmsford, wiioh left Whangaroa at 1 p.m. on Thursday, did not. reiuih Auckland until 9.30 p.m. yesterday, being delayed about 11 hours. The s.s. 'Navna,.from Westport to Auckland, was also four hours late m j readhine port. The m. Waiotahi, which was adverfosod to sail for Mercury Bay and Tairua, did not make the trip.' The oarque Empreza, bound from Newcastle to Gisborne, with a cargo of 0001, put into Auckland last night for shelter. The Union Company's steamer Hau-, roto, which .was . due at Auckland on Thurs-' diy from tie .Cook and Society Islands, hod not reached port this morning. She has probably been delayed by the bad weather also. "Last night one of the ferry-boats got adrift for some hours. To-dav the gale was still raging, accomjjanied by heavy, driving rain, but bo far this winter there has been no really oold weather. EASTERLY STORM AT. NAPIER. (By. Telegraph.—Press Association.), Napier, July 4. An, easterly storm, with a good deal of rain, visited. Napier yesterday, hut ended during last night. GALE AT WATTTT Mr. Devereaus, meteorologist, at Waihi, telegraphed on Saturday morning: "A fierce easterly gale is raging here. It is the heaviest for i a considerable period, , and is estimated to have a velocity, of 30 miles an hour. The rain is intense. The barograph indicates an increase in tho severity of the gale." FLOODED OUT. . The following telegram was received from the Chief Ppstmastcr at Auckland on Saturday,:—''The Ruakura postmistress wired at 9.30 a.iri.'l' am closing office and* going home. The.i>lace is flooded, arid I would have been.cut off if I had waited any longer. The weather is very bad.' "
