Members of the School Committer frere also present. The'* chairman (Mr. H. Baldwin) stated that the caretaker of the park would look after trees planted on, Arbor Day. Mr,-W. Joliiffe mentioned that tho Horticultural Society would supply tho trees, the -uidividual donors being Messrs. Cooper and T. -Ward. > Mr.. D. M'Kenzie said that ho had no doubt that the Petono School Committee and the teachers would bo willing to fall in with tho idea. Ho nndortook to interview the, teachers. Messrs, Webloy and MacaskuT'spoke similarly regarding tho Hutt School' Committee. Mr. M'Konzio moved that .the' Government nurseries be written to and 'asked for trOes for tho purpose of • beautifying tho park. . ■ ' Mr. Joliiffe undertook to wart on too Agricultural Department m, furtherance of the motion, which was withdrawn in favour of that suggestion. Messrs.' H. Baldwin, J. "W. M'Ewan, A. Colqiihoun, T. Macaskill, and R. J. Southgate attended the ordinary meeting of the Hutt'' Park Committee lost night. 1 . The Eastbourne Borough t Council notified tho re-election of, Dr. M'Kenzio to represent the borough, on the committee. It was decided, on the moti6n of Mr. M'Eivan,, to request the Eastbourne Borough to aid the " .cemraitWa funds by 4 contribution. The. chairman reported that he and Mr. M'Ewan had interviewed Messrs. Stafford ani Treadwell in reference to the firm's acpeunt, and the matter was gone into thoroughly. The firm hai received authority from the' eld and new bodies to collect from tie Racing Club »nd the Gelf Club sums of ' £31; odd) an 3 £25, owing to the old trustees up to-December 31, ,1907.
