LEVIN. N ■ Levin Rovers Hookey Club drew with Otaki at Lovin ou Wednesday—s goals each. The scorers for the homo team were: Thorno (2), Cyril Wilson (2), and Laurie. Levin beat Manukau by 8 goals to nil. Levin ladies drew with Otaki ladies—ono goal each. Miss Francis scored for Levin, aiid Miss Kilminster . for Otaki. All the : above fixtures were played under tho Horowhenua Hockey Association., ■■. • Tho No-Licenso meeting in the Presbyterian Church on Wednesday evening was well atterided. . At tho request of ratepayers of tbeWhareroa riding, ilir. ;M. Lynch convened a meet-, ing: at Paraparaumu on Wednesday night for tho purpose of considering the advisability of severing: from Hutt County. , Ahout j seventy people were present, including some from Otaki and other adjacent 'districts. Mr.-.C.E. Brandon was voted to chair. The : proceedings.were of a rather lively nai>. ure, numerous questions being put, and a running fire of interjections kept up throughout. A motion was submitted that j a conimittee be appointed to confer with the Otaki and Tβ Horo committees with a view to., obtaining information to place 'before a public meeting to bo held within a mouth. This, was seconded, but the chairman, 'for sonw considerable time, refused to put it, stating that, if he did so, no discussion could take place. ,-■ This 'ruling was -, dissented from, but tho chairman remained.firm. Eventually Mr. Howell suggested all the brains were in tho chair, a remark that caused Mr. Brandon 'to stand up and exclaim (with a look at tho chair), "Perhaps sol" Mr. Howell then suggested, that Mr. Brandon should rclin-, quish tho chair';; as his actions.were bordering., on ridiculous, and- that someone else bo appointed-so as to allow the business to proceed.
