The specifications, which have been .prepared,, provide .for the supply and-equip-ment of one of the latest.and most complete plants ill the Southern Hemisphere. The plant which.-u to be electrically driven, is to bo capable of turning out a minimum quantity of m tons.P" week for one unit, and will be capable: of extension . without disturbance of the, original plan, if required at a later.date. ■ rhe property of the company it situated on the :coast of Golden Bay, some 35 miles from Nelson, and 110 miles. from Wellington, and contains practically." unlimited quantities of iiiAestone and clay, which are shown by careful tests to bo the riMit materials for manufacturing tho best quality of Portland cement. i'ho' company will have its works on the : const lino at Terakohe' Bay, will all its raw materials above the level of its site, and" will be in a position to load large intercolonial steamers at is'own wharf. The exceptional character, of the property is stated to be obvious to those interested, and the company, which has on its share list the names of a number of leading arid wealthy colonists, and it is claimed that it will start off with advantages enjoyed by no other existing enterprise of the sarao character in the Dominion. It is anticipated that from the date of the signing of the contract it will take some twelve months before tho company's output is oh:the market. Recent Stock Exchange quotations show that shares in Eoveral of. the other cement manufacturing companies are stnnding': at a premium of 100 per cent/and, notwithstandingtho large output of local works, the importations from England arc still on a considerable scale. .. .
