BUTTER-FAT YIELDS.
IIV Tin? Ediiou.) Sir,—Can any of your readers inform me what is the. (iverage yield per cow per OJinum of butter-fat in Denmark? Does it excoed some of our big Taranaki yiolds (about 2701b.) ?—I am, otc., S . SUBSCRIBER.
Tho average yiold per cow in Denmark is usually reckoned to bo 2001b. of butter-fat. This, of course, is bolow soano of tic big Ta^rauaki-yields of 2701b. But it is above tho average' Now Zealand yiold, which, though loss easily-determined tlran that of Denmark, is generally put at about 1501b. per cow. Thero is obviously room for plenty of testing and culling- better feeding among the New Zealand dairy herds. A 2701b. herd in Now Zealand is good; but in Denmark the good herds go as high as 3001b"., and the specially good ones as high as, 4001b. Tho 8001b. herds tihere aro quito numerous. Perhaps < readers who are testing their herds or keeping account of tho factory returns may be willing to give further information.on this point.
