ANNUAL SHOW,

NORTH ISLAND CHAMPIONSHIPS. The chanticleer that ushora in the dawn hold sway in Victoria Hall yesterday aftornoou, the occasion being the opening of the 27th annual exhibition of the Wellington Poultry, Pigeon, and Canary Society. Although the entries are smaller this year than previously, and several classes liave had to .bo restricted on account of the size of the hall, the show is. a compact, interesting, and attractive one. Some of the exhibits, however, are not. seen to the best advantage, owing to tho want of space. Although the birds are less in number in every class, the quality, is excellout, so good,. according to an expert, that nothing better of the 'sise could bo seen in Australasia. The North Island championships for poultry (lnngshaus) was won by Messrs. Gill Bros., of Invercargill. North " Island championship in pigeons (Oriental frills) and canaries (Norwich plain heads) wore also 'awarded the winssrs in theso classes, being Messrs. D. Murphy, of Wellington, and T. Wilkinson, Christcliurcii, respectively. Mr. W. Sownian, of Blenheim, won tho society's £10 10s. trophy, and for the best dorking, ■ Plymouth rook,-i wyandotte, and orpington; in' the four different classes.
