NORTHLAND MATTERS.
riir,—-As a ratepayer of Wellington, and a resident of Northland, I am more than pleased to see tho notice of motion brought forward by Councillor Fitzgerald in connection with tho long overdue adjustment of rates ■.between Karori and Wellington Boroughs, and trust that this important.matte will bo fully'discussed at open council next 'meeting,, and given tho consideration it desorves. Tho Municipal Corporation Act states that a commission shall bo set up to adjust the finances between local bodies, and nothing of a satisfactory nature can bo arrived at ■ until the commission set up by decides tho actual position of things between tho two boroughs. ■Evidently the old councillors do not realise that valuable assets are. lying 'unclaimed. Also in report of oounoil, Mr. Luke advocates more liberal treatment to Kilbirnie at the' expenso of Wadestown and Northland. As these districts have had nothing so far, will Mr. Luko bo good enough to inform his electors what his future proposals are, and if he is in favour of spending a fair proportion of tho rates in a district from which they are collected? ; In conclusion, I emphatically protest against building up one part of tho Suburbs electorate at the expense of another. Thanking you,—l am, etc., . GEORGE BURNEY. . June 12.
