Chinese files give details of tie nrader of Mr. Brooks, an English traveller, in the Lalo country, in Western China, on the Tibetan frontier. was accompanied by an escort of seven Chinese, including an interpreter. The last-named deserted. A native attempted: to attaok the traveller with a sword, -hut Brooks drew a revolver and shot him dead. \ The party then took refuge with another tribe, who, pretending friendship, induced Brooks'to surrender his firearms. They then called in.the previously':hostile tribesmen, who massacred Brooks ami fonr of his escort. The other two attendants were sold into slavery. , . ...
