'' (Before Mr. W. G. Riddoll, S.M,) AUJEGED FOGGING AND TITTERING. A young man named Wm'. M'Kay was iharged that on April 1, at Wellington, ho did forge tho name of G. J. Kiddell to a cheque foi £10 10s., and did utter tho same to A. R. V. Lodder, of Wellington. Chief-Detective Broberg asked for a remand until June 18, which was granted. .' - OBSCENE LANGUAGE. A plea of gnilty was entered by Thomas Bromley to a oharge of using obsoene language. Aoonsed elected to bo dealt with summarily; and was convioted and fined. £3, in default 14 days' imprisonment. "FIRST OFFENDERS."' • There were two men haled before the Court for drunkenness. Both wore legal "first offenders"—that is, they had not been, previously , convicted of drunkenness within the past six < months—but one of them was & Erst offender' only in , name. Actually, according to the statement made by Station-Sergeant Darby, he ■was a record-breaker, with 121 previous convictions standing to his oredit, or rather discredit. Still for bix months he had evaded the long arm of the law, so. was once more 'privileged to be classed as a "first offender." He in common with tho other inebriate, was aned; 55.,; with the alternative of M hours' imprisonment.
iIMPOBTTOING.-• ■• • A respoctably-drossed young woman named Agnes Mary Reardon was convicted of importuning, and fined £2, with the alternative o£ seven days' imprisonment. In tho report of the civil case heard in tho Magistrate's Court on Mday, Aaron Samuels and Geo. Wm Gray (trading as tho Wholesale Woollen Co.) v. F. W. Varo and others, it was stated that Mr. LucHe appeared for plaintiffe and Mr. Lowoy for defendants. It should have been Mr. Lewoy for plaintiffe and Mr. Luckie for defendants. ,
