VOYAGE OF THE ESTEE. , :• As reported in the cables of. June 3, the small wooden Norwegian Darquo Ester was towed into llobsou's Bay, Melbourne, leaking like a colander, and with her crew worn oui after a hard and anxious.time at tho pumps. Tho story of her voyugo, as gleaned Jrom her Norwegian crow, is thus told ia tho Melbourne papers:— After loading 319,828 superficial feet < of sawn' timber at Hokianga, New Zealand, for consignment to the Kauri Timber Co., Melbourne, the vessel put to soa on April 27,' in fino clear weathor, and with a fresh. .sou.Ui-.catt wind on": her Quarter. Variable conditions were met with until May 2, but on that day, when tlio Eater was in 36 south 165 east, the wind swung heavily from tho north-west; and in a few minutes had attained hurricane force. Fierce sciuulis wore frequent, and tho seas roBO to imraenso proportions, liike a piece of battered driftwood, the Ester How before the tempest for hours, every sail having been hauled in, aud when morning broUc she. waa still battling with the turbulent dements. All day long sac -strove -bravely for existence, and when the gale, began to weaken her anxious crow were appalled at tho discovery that Bho had " sprung a leak." Then they went to the pumps, and in a pitching sea and icy soud worked for their lives. Captain Houghland, on May 4, although , the weather was anything but comfortable, had-a windmill erected, and it was found that by its aid and tho assistance of tho haad pumps every, four hours, the water could be kept down, On May 7. fair weather again ruled, and, with tho pumps still going, a flno royagb'Vros mado until tho Estor was nearly off Deal '-blond,' on May 26. Then camo a buret of wind, nnd 6oon another furious disturbance from the northwest. Again tho Ester was hardly moro manageable than a derelict, and pursuing rollers Seeped hungrily from an immense elovation over or storn. Then, as tho fury of tho storm increased, they pounded on to hor'decks,, rushed over her wholo length, and dashed once more hissing into tbo ocean. After a littlo of this treatment tho Ester's starboard bulwarks wore shattoed to splinters, nnd hor leaks begun to open oven wider than before. For two days the storm lasted, and then tho little vessel, with her distressed crew now constantly workinpr at the pumps, crept painfully tUonu to Flinders island. Whon between there and Kimt Island, on Tuosday last, she was once more gripped by a roaring "nor'-wester," but the galo was oiily of short duration, and she was able to make Port Phillip Heads in safety, but with nearly 4ft. of water in hor hold.
