; ' ' "';■' LADIES' EVENING. ' There was a largo attendance at the' concovt grven :last night in' the concert Hall by -the Wellington Loidertofol, and,, as the . oonduotor. Air.- Robert Parker, pointed out, : in his speech ' towards the end of the evening, it was an audience representing; the Iwhole music-loving community. The .part songs, and glees by the members of the Liedertafol were, of course, the distinctive feature of the evening, lending a special charm to the whole performance, and of these the two best were vthe spirited partP" , lhe Song," set to fine music by Dudley Buck, which was sung to piano and reed organ accompaniment, and went with a swing, as did the stirring song, "The Bekflguorea/' The "Evening" song by Abt, with which the programme began, was given in finished stylo, but Mr, Querce, who was the soloist, did not succeed in making himself ward with sufficient clearness abovo the other voices; ■ "Come; Lot us Join- the Roundelay ' was sung with' a dainty precision, *3j* ** ■P*l i Bong v with .which tho second portion of tho programme began, '"'WJien' Evening Twilight Evening's .Twilight," was rendered very artistically, tie piano passaees being very finely given.. The evening concluded, witlr a humorous song, "The Three Chafers, 'which ploasoa the audience very much, and sent them home regretting that the ooncart -had ended so Boon. .Two selections wore given by a quintet, in which the violinists were . the Misses Kennedy, ™ Kel ™dy, Hoby, the /cellist, Mr: Leon Cohen, and the accompanist Mr. Eric Waters. £13 & £ item they played several movements from Handel's Water-; Music, : which' allorded-them a great variety of oolour, and H 1 ? dainty, and ; lively. The. Stotely Dance, and the Valte in E Minor! which canMtoward* the end of the eveW' wore charmingly rendered.:" They were bot' descriptive ■ an d the second, was of very alluring character, almost tantalising. The Rev. A W. H.
