FB7 GI.ENCOB.I Tho Great Northern Steeplechase meeting will bo concluded at Ellcrslio to-morrow. Messrs. W.-H. S. Moorehousc and J. W. Abbott are the delegates appointed to represent the Wellington Kacing Club at the New Zealand Eacing Conference, which sits m Wellington next month.
S. Waddeil left Auckland for, Hastings on Sunday night in order to get home to put the finishing touches on the Karamu horses competing at the Hawke's Bay Jockoy Club's meeting uext week.
Seabreeze, who won tho ,Oaks and St. Leger in 1888, has recently died at Lord Rosebery's stud. Seabreeze was the dam of the imported horse Vasco.
An English sportsman, who successfully backed Duke of Sparta, Lutteur 111, and White Eagle to win this season's spring treble, wrote to tho London "Sportsman" stating that his "system" of selecting winners pointed to tho King winning the double, Two Thousand, and One Thousand. Guineas with Minora and Princesse de Galles. The double, however, was npt successful.
At a committee meeting of the Wellington Eacing Club held yesterday, it was decided to remove the disqualification imposed on C. Chesternian; of Hastings. It will.bo remembered that Fnll Cry's running was questioned at the last winter meeting at Trentham, and subsequent inquiries irade by the stewards led to the disqualification (during pleasure) of the horso, Full Cry, C. Chesterman, in whose nomination the horse raced, and the jockey T. O'Brien, win was in charge of the horse. , ,
Dawn and Kairoma were placed aboard the Main Trunk express leaving Auckland last night,., and'the horses are due at Hastings this evening.. Oxton and Miscast have been left behind at Ellerslie to fulfil their engagements on concluding day of the Auckland Racing Club's meeting.
The local pony owner, Ilr. A. ,M! Guy, last evening brought down from Longbnrn' a throe-year-old. filly, by Mahaki, from Oroua. The youngster, which.will .go under tho 14:2 standard, is a half-sister to Mermaid, who won a'double at the Miramar pony races last Thursday. .'.. . _.-.,... •; ,
