"QUEEN OF THE NIGHT." ■: Those who like their melodrama "all hot" will , find it so in "Queen of the Night," which embraces in its tlireo hours' action an calibrating' lot of sensations, : in which human life is made- a bagatelle. Satisfactory work is dono by Mr. Geo. Cross, Miss Ada Guildford, Miss Rosemary Bees, Miss Maud Chetwynd, Mr. John Hesford, Mr. Ellison, Mr. Wilton Powor, and Mr.' Wilton Welch. Tho scenery is quite a. feature, and the picturo of an express tr,ain at full speed, is most ingeniously arranged. Thero, will, be only two more presentations of the piece—tonipftt and to-morrow. "A King of Crime" will be staged on Thursday and Friday, and on Saturday "A Message from Mars" will bring the season to a close. .. THEATRE -ROYAL. A very interesting programme of* animated views'is being presented at the Theatre Royal this week. Among the best was '.'Dancing Throughout tho World"—a glimpse of tho national dances of many quaint countries, little* known to stay-at-home people."Panther Hunting in Java," was another picture instinct with thrill. The cinephorie records of Walter Miller and May.Loveday, added to the variety ,of the • programme. . THE ROYAL PICTURES. ''Hi* Majesty's Theatre was crowded-last night by an appreciative audience of picture lovers anxious to see the fine programme submitted by the Royal Pictures Syndicate this week. The films were of.an exceptionally high order, and the applause of those present was frequently evoked. The wonderful reputation which has preceded Chung Ling Soo, the'conjuror, who is.the bright particular star of Mr.- Harry Richards's Vaudeville Company, lends great intoresV to the visit of the company here, which will bd inaugurated on Monday evening next at the Opera House. In Ausr tralia, and latterly in Dunedin and last night at Christchurcli, "he has . created •. ■ snch enthusiasm as has seldom,.been aroused by any performer, of this class.'
