IBT TILBQEirn.—BrIaAI. CDP.ni!SI"OSDBKT.J Hastings, June 7. _ Mr. R. M'Nab, ex-Minister for Defence, is to give an address on compulsory military training to-morrow night. Mr. M'Nab arrives :in Hastings to-morrow, and will be welcomed by the Mayor. (Mr. J. A. Miller) and volunteer officers, whose .guest ho will be. A fire took place at one o'clock on Sunday morning in a four-roomed house opposite Waipatu pa. .The brigado turned out, but as the fire was outside the borough boun-, darios, they returned to the station. , Tho house, owned by Mr. J. S. Sourden and occupied by Mr. John Parker and family, was completely destroyed. The insurances are:— Furniture and piano, £300, -. in the State; house, i 250, in tho South British. i; The. monthly committee, meeting of the : Hastings branch "of the Farmers' Union was, held on Saturday, evening.'
