TO BE PRESENTED TO THE PRIME MINISTER. •' Following is the text of the address to be presented to Sir Joseph Ward, in an illuminated album that is being i prepared by Messrs. WhHootnbe aad Tombs, at tlio instance of a committee, the members of which approve of the action of Sir Joseph in offering ■ one Dreadnought, or two if necessary, to England:— .. TO SIR JOSEPH WARD, K.CJI.G.. Sir, —We, the undersigned citizens of Wellington, New, Zealand, desire to take , this opportunity 'of convoying to yon our > appreciation of the assistance offered by yourself and the members of your Ministry on behalf of the people of New Zealand to his Britannic Majesty, dur--1 ing the naval crisis in March, 1909, by the gift of, a first-class battleship, and of a second battleship, if it should be, found necessary. We do bo because wo think that the time has come when tho- daughter States Bhould take thoir part to a greater extent than hithertofore in the general defonco and maintenance of his Majesty's Dominions, aud we are glad to think that New Zealand has been among the first to recognise its obligations.
