Tho . award, .which applies to 'Wellington, ' Canterbury, Otago, and Southland, operates as from May 28, 1909, till May 28,-1912. ' Tlie classes of/workers-repog-nised'aro iourrieywomen, journeymen, .apprentices, .improvers, and under-rata workors. / .Tailoresses: The term ,of apprenticeship for females engaged-in:any capacity except shirtmaking ;in a clothing factory shall bo two years. Each, worker' shall also serve \two years, as, improver. Weekly: wagos of apprentices and improvers shall be—first six months 55., :second 7s. 6d., .'third "10s., and so':on, rising by 2s/od. each six months.: There shall be no limitation^to' number.of apprentices. :An apprentice shall bo taught the branch of the '.trade to which she is apprenticed.- An ap-t prentice who has served a<p&riqd at a brancli of a kindred trade in tho same employ, 'such • as shirt-making, shall have-such timo counted ' as' part, of apprenticeship. The hours of work shall ; bo 45 per week. '/ Journeywomen's wages shall be £1 ss. pet week.- Provision is made for under-rato workers in each case for a period- not exceeding; six months. .Members'.of the union shall have preference of employment. Any time lost through default of a worker or by reason of 'breakdown, or accident to machinery or i-shortago of; work,., shall be .deducted, from, wages, provided such time excecds ono continuous nour. 1 AVhcro a -worker has presented herself,for, employment in tho morning, and : no work, is for her, the employer, shall,pay half day's wages, unless due notico' has been- given t-Lo previous day. Schedule B—Ladies' Apparel: Tho torm of apprenticeship shall ho two years, and there shall bo two years' improvership. Apprentices' wages for. first, six mouths 55., and byt 2s. 6d. risos per six months to 12s. 6d.; ini-. provers 15s. Gd. first -year after apprenticeship, and £1' the second year. .
