G."S./Meredith and Co., Wai'mate, report, on- the state, of the South Canterbury grain and produce market, for'the week ending May 26, as follows:—Wheat—The.' wheat -market is about.;the same as last week. , Millers are not operating, ■ but largo quantities 'are being shipped Home and to the' North Hand. Prime milling wheat is selling.' at '4s.' Tper bushol net,' on' trucks at country, stations; sacks, . sjd. .• We have not heard or any sales under this figure., Indications point' to'tho market firming in tho near future. Good whole fowl wheat is selling at 3s. lid. to 4s. f.o.b.s.i. according to quality. Oats.—The market for oats is firmer, and any A grade lots offering ara readily- purchased for shipment- at is.' 9d. f.o.b.s.i. B grade oats are not much in demand ,and are worth from Is. 7d. to'is. 8d f.o.b.s.i. Chaff—The chaff market has declined during, the past week, and "sales are difficult to make at 555. f.o.b.s.i. ; Largo quantities are offering, and ■ indications point to the market declining in tho near future. Potatoes.—The potato market is firmer, owing to a good many of the potatoes being pitted. Sales have been made at 90s. f.o.b.s.i. for shipment north There is a good demand, and higher, prices aro expected shortly. Straw.—Baled wheaten '2s Gd. on trucks; baled oaten, 275. 6d. on trucks'
