I,- Fortunately Nurso Shaw was lying down, in the room /tvhen she was awakened by a. crackling noise, and noticed the smoke in tho room. She it onoe quickly informedtho matron "that there' wasa firo in her. room, 'and,on hor way back to the danger point tolled on a workman to assist her to get out the hose, with which <tho biiilding is supplied. :Before the firo could bo got out and subdued the room .was 'rather badly damaged. as .was also tho nurse's wardrobe. 'A couple of other rooms were damaged slightly br water. . Had the outbreak occurred at instead of in tho middle of the day, the consoquonccs might easily have been, serious, ■ asNurse Shaw is at present on.tho night staff and the firo would probably have obtained a strong hold before it was discovered. • So prompt-was the action of Nurse Shaw and tho staff that tiioro was-nothing for the brigade to do on its arrival. ■
