' The Wednesday ,ffbckey Association's .championship matches were continued yesterday afternoon, under perfect weather conditions. • The detailed results are as follaic:— '. Karori :.v. Artillery A.—On a heavy ground, Artillery proved better on the. day's play ..than Karori, although there/seemed to be little 1 difference between the teams! The game'was marred by over-use of the whistle,-' Artillery's Continued; obstruction and Karori's "sticks" being the cause.; Following hard upon a Jong hit, - Artillery had the satisfaction of seeing Cooper (Karori's. goalkeeper) evaded, and themselves ■in the lead by.l to nil. Karori worked hard,, but invariably lost the ball, the forwards' not passing enough. No further soore .took place in the'first spell.. • Artillery increased their, ■ lead '. by u shot: whicli is ■-: /stated to have been' threo ' or four yards ■ outside the 'circle; the ball touched Cooper's foot and found the net, and to the surprise of many, the referee allowed the score. Karori became aggressive, and attacking in a good line, H. Spiers seized the oponing- presented and drew first blood for the • suburbanites. Telegraph.—The ■former had. the better~of the first spell, showing tho better combination,' Kuch, Hunter, Mearns; and Hoy playing the best. In the second spell Post and Telegraph could not keep going, want Of training and condition telling. Hui Mai A;won'by 3 goals (Kuch, Hoy, and Mearns each scoring), while Melvein scored the only goal for Post and Telegraph. The referee was Mr. Carver. ... /.--'■ - ; Y.M.C.A. v. The improvement: of .the Petone team came as a surprise, their passing and following.up being very good. In thV first spell, Pakeha wero 3, Mackay, Nutter, and Haase.eaoh' scoring, wjiilo Packard and J; M'Ewen each scored for Petone. \ In the second spell each side scored a goal,, Mackay for Pakeha and M'Clure for Petone. Thomson, Jackson,- Smith, Mackay, Nutter, and ITEI-. aoreney wore the best for the.winners, and for the losers M'Ewen Brothers, MTlowoll, M'Gluro and. Packard >wore'prominent. The' Wanganui Association proposes to holdn conference.there, but the Wellington Association thinks that-if a .conference, is to be.held at.all,,it would be most convenient and central t6V.hold-.it at Wellington.
