Detective Butler instituted close inquiries, with the result that ho traced evidence which made him doubt tho whole story, t'ho detectivo again sought Afillor, and, after considerable cross-examination, ho confronted him with facts which forced tho admission that tho'tale was untrue. "I am" half off my head with troublo," was tho only explanation he made.
