Henderson and Pollard's joinery worts, at Mount Eden,. and dwelling-house house..adjoining, .were totally destroyed by fire on Saturday night. The building stock and machinery wore valuod at £3000,, nnd the insuranco amounts to £1800 in the Standard Company: The Kauri Timber Company s yards adjoining had a very narrow oscapo. ■ ■.. '. ..;'.. , .'■■ L . , -Levin, May 22. A fire at. eight o'olock-last night gutted the back portion of. a six-roomed dwelling owned by E. D. Worsfold, and occupied by W. S. Allaway. The fire had a' good hold when discovered,-but the brigade succeeded' in confining it to the back portion. The insurance on the building was £250, and on tho furniture £60 in the Norwich Union office. AUCKLAND SUPREME COURT, Auckland, May 22. Mr. Justico Edwards stated in'tho Supremo Court this morning that in'consequence of the very large number of cases sot down for tho criminal and civil sittings ho had arranged witTi Mr. Justice Sim to preside and deliver sontenoos in tho second week in criminal proceedings. During tho week, thoro would bo two sittings'of tho Supromo Court simultaneously.'
