ANGORA COATS.
. THEIR VALUE AS WEED-KILLERS. It appears (writes our travelling correspondent) m if tho Angora goat were tho only sure euro for blackberry and other noxious weeds. Excellent work is being dono in this direction in the Sounds by some farnlers, who first tried every other means of exterminating tho weed. One man, who had a sprinkling of; blackberry in a thrce-acro patch, ploughed tho stuff in. as a quick and effective way of. ending the trouble. In a very short period he had a blackberry crop which entirely covered the ploughed area. Tho weed appreciated-tho cultivation. ■ The farmer then purchased some goats and turned thom on. tno patch, with the greatest . sue-' cess. The a&imals ato ; the blackberry out root and branch. It appears that they much prefer blackberry to grass. A Sounds far-, mer, who has a herd of Angoras, says, in r&v fcrenco to their, general treatment, that their hair should bo cut twice .a year; otbenviso it is of little value. ' If Angoras would only dovourt gorso.- as they do blackberry, : there would,bo-plenty of work, for them to do.,in. tho river courses of tho North Island.
