With regard to tlio dispute as to the financing of Chinese railway oonstruotion woiks, between tho British and Fronch capitalists on ono,side and tho Gorman group on tho otliei, a compromise Las been arrived at It has been arranged that tho Gorman group shall appoint a chief .engineer for tho 500-miles section of'.tho, Ha-nkau-Changtu railway, in the provinco of Hupeh, whilo the Biitish group will appoint a chief engineer for the Cantoii-Hankau railway A British or a ,Frouch rngmoci will be appointed'for tho subsequent extension of tho Changtu railway. Tho tlireo groups mil participate on equal terms in tho supply of construction material and in providing a loan to China of 5\ mil lions.
